Elton Joe Duffy!
Posted By Jon on March 8, 2009
Hey, I’ve added a new video to the gallery, and our YouTube page!
I’ve been friends with Joe since high school (he got his nickname “Elton Joe” because of his piano playing talent). Over the years, we’ve been in several bands together, and co-wrote some music. Among our songs was “Boogie Woogie Rhythm”, a nice, bouncy, rock tune. Eventually, I produced a studio recoding of BWR and a few other songs, and that’s as far as it went.
Fast-Forward to now… I am SO into digital media. Digital photography gives me tremendous control over the photos I shoot, Digital Audio gives me more creative control over my music (like splitting the BWR guitar solo into two guitar solos), and Digital Video makes it far easier to put together videos.
So here I am, getting by in a life that doesn’t include my musical talents, and Joe is doing what he can to survive, which involves playing by himself nightly in the local bars for tips, and also in the two bands he is involved with. So check out the website I put up for Joe at http://www.ejduffy.com , have a look at the video, and you’re in the Pearl River, NY area on March 15 or March 22, 2009 stop by Quinta Steakhouse to see Joe with his band “Take 3″.
The version of BWR in the video is an early version and doesn’t have the piano and organ parts of the final version. The dance videos are from old 1940s movies.
Enjoy,
Jon
